From humble beginnings as a community disc jockey, Richardo McKenzie has been working his way up the music industry food chain for the past three years.

He eventually transitioned into music production, and decided that he wanted to create his own niche and take things to another level by starting his label, Sikes Muziq.

"I am being more realistic and I want to give young, promising, talented youth a chance which will motivate them," said McKenzie, who has ambitions to produce many well-known artistes as well.

McKenzie and Sikes Musiq have been building a strong legacy with tracks like Feisty with Ding Dong, Caribbean with Kahma, as well as the album Status with Digital Sham.

The producer, who describes himself as jovial, determined and nonchalant, says he is laser-focused on his ambition to make Sikes Muziq one of the best production houses of reggae and dancehall music.

Though relatively new in the business, McKenzie, through the label, has already worked with some rising entertainers like TeeJay, Barbie J, Ryminista and Daddy1, and with producers like Romeich Entertainment, Pinkz Entertainment and Prime Time Music. And he believes that he is only getting started.

"We are releasing an album called 14/30 Pain on June 6, my birthday, and a juggling called Zahari rhythm is also coming soon," said McKenzie. His most recent production, the Rishanna rhythm, features artistes the likes of TeeJay, as well as up-and-coming acts Kaepable and JDon Heights.
