Uncle and nephew collaborate on new single
Dancehall artiste Mario King Law and his uncle, 1Hotsteppa, are encouraged by the feedback to their collaborative effort titled Pass Through, which they said speaks about betrayal.
Mario King Law said that the song was inspired by real events that occurred on various occasions.
" Pass Through is a song that everyone who gets familiar with can easily relate to when they are in a bad place, as a reminder that they are not alone. Since the release of the music video, it has racked up more than 57,000 views on YouTube. Mario King Law said that getting into music was inevitable, as several of his family members have been involved in music.
"I admire them, they mentor me and they are my inspiration," he shared. 1Hotsteppa, whose given name is Alex Ronaldo McDonald, said he was happy to collaborate with his nephew.
"Everything is always about the love of music. The collaboration was a learning and teachable experience that produced a song of which I am proud of and grateful for," he said. "Every word of that song is true. In life there are people who have an eye for greatness who some will see and encourage, while some will see it and envy it. The people who envy me, I use them for motivation to outdo myself. I let them know in my song that I see them, I know them, but I focus on the positive things and positive people."
Mario King Law, whose given name is Romario Anthony Richards, is originally from Portland but resides in Ocho Rios, St Ann. While attending the Marcus Garvey Technical High School, he created a musical group named Clean Stamp along with Speng Quan and 1Hotsteppa. In 2018, he started his Clean Stamp Records label.
