Montego Bay-born and bred entertainer, Shane E, has released a single, which he says speaks to the current state of crime in his community and country.

The song, Heart Cry, has been getting a lot of traction locally and is helping the entertainer to position himself for a major take-off.

According to Shane E, whose given name is Theophilus Edwards, the motivation for the song came about due to "the present level of the country's crime rate, especially the frequent killing of women and children and crime on a whole".

Shane E grew up in the gritty Rose Heights community, and was surrounded by crime and violence on a daily basis. However, instead of falling prey to his circumstances, he has used it as inspiration and fuel for a burgeoning career in music.

Heart Cry was produced by Dunrich Muzik, the entity behind his last single My Story. Shane E said that since the release of those songs, he has been getting good reception "from the streets and also the Corporate Area".

"There are also encouraging messages on social media platforms. There has been encouragement for me to continue on the path I am now on. It's the change that Jamaica and world wants to see, especially with what's really going on with the crime rate, not just in Jamaica, but the world cries for a better home," the deejay said.

In a move to capitalise on the success that he has enjoyed with Dunrich Muzik, Shane E currently has other projects in the works with the label, including a soon-to-be-released EP.
