Dancehall entertainer Elephant Man has been freed from charges of breaching the Immigration Act.

The entertainer appeared at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today where the verdict was made.

"I give thanks and I'm happy knowing that I'm free to move on to the next chapter," Elephant Man told THE STAR.

The artiste, whose given name is Oneil Bryan, was charged in March 2020 after allegedly failing to declare that he travelled to Germany that same month. At the time, travellers to Germany and several other countries were required to disclose the information to the authorities as part of Jamaica's COVID-19 protocol.

Representing him was attorney Christopher Townsend who said the evidence brought against his client by the prosecutor was not enough to substantiate the charges, "so the court entered a verdict of not guilty".

He added that his client is as "happy as an elephant" and that he is pleased that they were able to come out victorious.
