Papie Keelo enjoying life in the ‘Club House’
Recording artiste Papie Keelo says that his single, Club House, was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic's shutdown of the entertainment sector.
"I was planning to turn my house into a club after the entertainment sector closed, so that is where the idea for the song came from. It's bringing back the original dancehall vibes. People can dance and have fun to it because it's a party song," the artiste explained.
The official music video, which was directed by Pro Films, has been gaining traction on YouTube. The single was released in January.
"It's been a good result, the song is streaming all over, there are thousands of views on the official video on Vevo and people love the song so much that they are making reels and TikTok videos using the Club House audio," the artiste highlighted. With the great local reception, his hope is that it will reach the international market.
Papie Keelo, given name Robert Taylor, was born in Kingston, and aims for authentic dancehall and reggae in his work. His previous singles include Call On God, Lord A Di Ring and One Way. He is currently working on an EP and album, which are expected to be completed some time this year.
"I am steadily focusing on making music and I plan to do something different for the culture," the artiste said.
