Dancehall artiste Juggla believes that his controversial single, The Confrontation, which he says is an honest portrayal of infidelity, is now firmly a part of dancehall pop culture.

"The song really caused a lot of discussion online among the females because it is an honest song about how a man who has been betrayed feels about his girl's infidelity. The crazy thoughts that run through a man's head, violence, taking back gifts, revenge ... this one was inspired by true events and a moment of madness," Juggla said.

"Because of the nature of dancehall and our society, which is obsessed with being macho, men don't talk about how they are hurt emotionally by women, or admit to any weaknesses. It is like a story that has never been told and a lot of female fans have come up to me to say that," he added.

The single, the videos for which were shot by Shervel the Sheep, has racked up nearly 400,000 views and grew his subscriber base by almost 300 per cent. The song also enjoyed a great run on social media platform TikTok and its success has inspired him to get a TikTok account. "It is my biggest song so far," said Juggla, whose given name is Sheldon Henry.

Juggla was a runner-up in the 2010 edition of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition. He has been enjoying a resurgence in terms of his career. He performed at a club show in Texas on July 3 and is confirmed for another major show in Connecticut on September 4. He has a number of spot dates in clubs in the US.
