Bella Blair rebuilding herself musically

Prior to the onset of the pandemic, Bella Blair was gearing up to embark on a tour.

Much like the rest of the world, her plans were halted by the outbreak. Though she could have found ways to return to the grind like others did, Blair said she wanted to step away from the entertainment scene to focus on her biggest challenge yet - motherhood.

"The reason I left in the first place was just to bet there for my newborn, my baby in those very crucial developmental years," she explained.

"Now she's at a point where I can leave her sometimes and do what I have to do and come back. It's been a real learning experience. Nobody can prepare you for it. You cyah read nuh book because me read book till me weak. Mi look pon article till me weak, mi watch YouTube video till me weak. But until you're in that situation you can never really tell what's gonna happen or what kind of child you're gonna have or what experiences you're gonna have with your child."

Looking back at her decision to vacate the limelight, Blair said she has no regrets.

"The truth is, it's a great experience. It allows you to experience true love you know. It allows you to see a side of yourself that you never know was possible, especially being young and free until that point."

She continued, "Pregnancy was not the most fun for me, to be honest. I had a really big belly and I was really heavy, but when she came out, it was just joy, and watching her grow is just something that I couldn't pay for. She's brilliant, she's talented and she's totally mine."

With her now two-year-old daughter in kindergarten, Blair said she is ready to get her fans reacquainted with her musical side. Her latest release is her single Hotty Hotty Ting. Released in late August, Blair said it will continue to bolster her message of female empowerment.

"I'm really for the ladies and I really want to represent for females going forward as I have been doing, and I wanted to write one of dem song deh weh make you feel good and it nuh boring. Even if I had a boy, I'd still rep for females as hard as I have been doing it, but now I understand the importance of positive influences on younger girls because I now have a girl," she said, adding that the single "is fi every woman, all every man, everybody".

Though not currently in the mindset to re-enter the comedy space, Blair said "it's not never but not right now".

"Maybe I'll transition to movies later on, maybe I'll do acting instead of just YouTube vlogs, because that's another thing that I'm really good at. But for now, I'm just doing music and it's been treating me good."

As Blair awaits the release for the accompanying music video to Hotty Hotty Ting, which was shot in Boston, Massachusetts, she said is she focusing on rebuilding herself musically.

"[There is] nothing project-wise right now. For now, it's just singles and fun music from Bella. You know, just getting reacquainted with and getting back comfortable in the space."
