Pete Davidson’s mom made him get clean
Pete Davidson’s drug addiction “got scary” when he started “cooking” ketamine, but he went to rehab after an emotional plea from his mother.
The former Saturday Night Live star has admitted he was consuming a cocktail of drugs, including ketamine, acid, pills and marijuana, and he started to become concerned when he realised he was no longer feeling “high”. But it was a candid chat with his mom Amy which finally convinced him to to stop.
He told Variety: “[My mom] told me her biggest fear was waking up one day to see on the news that something bad had happened to me. I reached a point where I couldn’t do that to her any more.”
Davidson walked away from his TV series Bupkis and checked himself into rehab and he vowed to turn his life and career around.
He explained: “When I turned 30 and I was there, it was a real low point. Nothing much was going on with my career and I was like: ‘This f******’ sucks. I can’t do it any more.’
“And it can’t be for anyone or for a job. You really have to want it, and when you’re done, you’re done.”
Davidson explained that he’s given up drugs completely and he’s cut down on alcohol, admitting he now only treats himself to “four beers a year”.
He added: “I don’t f*** with drugs any more. It’s been two or three years from doing really hard stuff and about a year or more from weed.”
The TV star also confessed that he found it most difficult to give up smoking marijuana, but now he just looks at a picture of his baby daughter Scottie, who was born last year, and it inspires him to maintain his sobriety.
He said: “Anytime there’s ever a thought [about smoking again], I look at my phone background [picture of my daughter] and go: ‘Oh yeah, no’.”
Jim Carrey ties the knot
Jim Carrey has married his partner Min Ah.
A representative for the Hollywood star has confirmed the couple has tied the knot seven months after they made their public debut at the Cesar Awards in France, where Carrey called his Min his “sublime companion” in a heartfelt speech. No more details about the wedding were revealed.
The couple are believed to have been together for at least four years as they were previously pictured leaving a comedy event in Los Angeles together in February 2022. It’s Carrey’s third trip down the aisle after previous marriages to Melissa Womer between 1987 and 1995, and his Dumb and Dumber co-star Lauren Holly, who he wed in 1996 and divorced a year later. Carrey was also in a long-term relationship with TV star Jenny McCarthy between 2005 and 2010.
He went public with Min when he headed to France to accept a special honour at the Cesar Awards in Paris in February. The couple were photographed together at the event alongside the actor’s daughter Jane. Carrey even gave Min a special mention in his speech – which he gave in French – professing his love for her. He thanked his family, Jane and grandson Jackson.
“And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father, Percy Joseph Carrey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter.”
Carrey, 64, announced he was stepping down from his long career in Hollywood in 2022 after nearly 40 years on the film scene, but he came out of retirement to play Doctor Eggman in the 2024 movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He admitted that his break gave him a “new appreciation” for acting.
However, Carrey insisted that he loves his new “quiet life” away from the spotlight and it would take a very special role to bring him back to Hollywood again.
He told Access Hollywood: “If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I’m taking a break ... .”
