Songwriter and executive producer Paulette Trowers is celebrating a new milestone after How Yuh Know Mi, the album that transforms her personal experiences into music, was accepted for Best Reggae Album consideration for the 2027 Grammy Awards.

For Trowers, the achievement adds another chapter to a project whose first measure of success was simply seeing it through to completion.

“I had done my homework, but nothing was guaranteed,” she said. “When the acceptance came, I felt exhilarated — yes, we did it! I’m eternally grateful to God and the team who helped bring my stories to life,” she said.

Released through Trowers Zamar Records, the 10-track album features lead vocalist Harmonique and live Jamaican musicians. Trowers serves as its songwriter and executive producer, drawing on her life to explore identity, motherhood, resilience and gratitude through reggae, ska and dancehall. The album’s acceptance for consideration places it in the Grammy awards process but does not constitute a nomination. Trowers views the development as another step forward, guided by the familiar Jamaican saying, ‘One, one coco full basket’.

“We created the album, submitted on time, and reached consideration. Now we work towards the next milestone,” she said. “A nomination would be a shared achievement for Harmonique, our musicians, engineers and everyone behind this project.”

Her comments place the spotlight on the collective effort behind How Yuh Know Mi, recognising the performers and technical team who helped turn her experiences into a finished recording. As the project moves through the consideration stage, Trowers’ Zamar Records is promoting it through interviews, press coverage, social media and listening links, inviting Recording Academy voting members to consider the album on its musical merit. For Trowers, however, the work of connecting the songs with listeners will continue regardless of the awards outcome.

“Regardless of the outcome, we will keep sharing the music,” she said. “We started and we finished. That is already success.”
