$11 million worth of ganja seized in St Elizabeth
Detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency seized a large quantity of ganja and a motor vehicle in St Elizabeth on Saturday.
Reports are that at about 8 p.m., officers were conducting anti-narcotics operations along the Font Hill main road in the parish. During the operation, the driver of a Nissan Caravan was signalled to stop. The driver disobeyed the signal and diverted to an off road, where the vehicle was abandoned.
The vehicle was searched and 39 knitted bags with rectangular parcels containing compressed ganja and four plastic buckets containing loose ganja were found. The drug seized weighs approximately 2,000 pounds, and has an estimated street value of $11,000,000. The vehicle was also seized.
No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
