Black River Hospital gets 20 wheelchairs

There were a lot of happy faces and expressions of gratitude at the Black River Hospital in St Elizabeth last Friday when 20 wheelchairs were presented to the management and staff at the facility.

The donation was made possible through a collaboration between the chairman of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association's south coast chapter, Jason Henzell, and Tank-Weld Metals Ltd.

Senior sales representative at Tank-Weld, Junior Sinclair, said his company was happy to have been able to partner with Henzell to assist the Black River Hospital.

"Health is everybody's business," he said. "We have to recognise that the Government will not be able to do everything, and so it is important when private companies can step up to the plate and make a contribution."

For his part, Henzell said that it was while he was a patient at the hospital more than a month ago that he first saw the need for the wheelchairs.

"I decided to reach out to the Tank-Weld family on behalf of the Black River Hospital. They responded immediately, and today, here we are with these much-needed gifts that will make life a lot easier for both the patients and staff at this facility," he said.
