Guyanese woman held with ganja

Twenty-three year-old Guyanese national Michelle Ann Bamfield, otherwise called Blacka, of George Town, Guyana, was arrested for Breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) last Thursday.

Reports from the Narcotics Division are that at about 4:30 p.m., Bamfield arrived at the NMIA and attempted to board a flight. While conducting security checks, her suitcase was searched and a false compartment containing ganja weighing approximately eight pounds was found. The drug has an estimated street value of $32,000.

Bamfield was arrested and charged. She is scheduled to appear in court the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday.
