Guard in Dream Weekend murder case gets bail
Mike Chin, the security guard who had shot and killed 37-year-old Jean Matthieu at Dream Weekend in Negril, Westmoreland, in August, has been granted bail.
Chin was slapped with a charge of murder this week, following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn.
When he appeared in the Westmoreland Parish Court in Savanna-la-Mar yesterday, Chin said he was innocent.
His lawyer told the court that his client who was charged with murder was innocent. He pointed to statements given by eyewitnesses, who declared that the security guard acted in self-defence when he shot Matthieu.
Parish judge Sasha-Marie Smith offered him bail in the amount of $300,000 and ordered a restriction on his travelling.
The matter is set for mention in November.
