Fifty-year-old mechanic charged with the murder of Khanice Jackson
Fifty-year-old mechanic Robert 'Backra' Fowler of Portmore, St Catherine has been charged with the murder of 20-year-old accounting clerk Khanice Jackson.
He was charged a short while ago.
Fowler is to appear in court on April 9, to answer to the charge.
Jackson, who is from Manchester Avenue in Independence City in Portmore, had been missing since Wednesday, March 24.
Her body was found along on Dyke Road in Portmore, St Catherine two days later.
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of crime and security, Fitz Bailey, is reporting that Jackson was killed between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on the morning she left for work.
"After the post-mortem result, it will be determined if additional charges will be proffered against the accused," he said.
Bailey stated that Jackson's handbag and other evidence were recovered from Fowler's home.
"There was no intimate relationship between the two parties. Our understanding is that it was just a clear platonic relationship."
It is reported that on March 24, Fowler offered Jackson a ride to work. He then reportedly lured her to his home under the guise that he had left a tool he needed for work.
It is reported that an argument ensued and she was strangled.
Bailey said investigators suspect that Jackson may have been sexually assaulted.
Bailey said Fowler left Jackson's lifeless body at his home and then proceeded to go to work.
When he returned home from work, Fowler then took the body from the premises and disposed of it.
