Robber raids artiste’s grave

An audacious grave robber used the dead of the night on Tuesday into Wednesday morning to break into the tomb of dancehall artiste Mad Dawg6 and steal a quantity of cash.

Police sources say an estimated US$800 (approximately J$124,000) is believed to have been stolen from the grave. Superintendent Allison Byfield, head of the St Thomas Police Division, told THE STAR yesterday that while she has heard of the incident, she was not in a position to provide any information on the matter.

Mad Dawg6, whose given name is Jevoun Shaw, died on May 13. His remains were buried in the Lloyds Cemetery near Yallahs in St Thomas on July 8.

Resting within a glass coffin, his remains were displayed, showcasing what appears to be an opulent gold chain embellished with a frosty pendant gracing his neck. Alongside the jewellery, the entertainer's coffin had cash and alcohol.

Well-placed police sources said the coffin was not disturbed by the grave robber. However, cash that was thrown into the grave was allegedly taken out by the brazen criminal who gained access to the blue and white tomb by smashing a hole in one section.

Best known for the song, Temper Problem, featuring Squash, Mad Dawg6 was a member of the 6ixx clan. He was one of three persons whose bullet-riddled bodies were found by residents in Mount Zion, St James.
