‘Pepper’ killed in early-morning police military operation

A Westmoreland man known by the aliases “Pepper” and “Jordan” was shot and killed during a joint police-military operation in Seaford, Westmoreland, early this morning.

The shooting reportedly happened shortly after 3 a.m.

Police said a firearm was recovered following the incident.

However, residents have raised serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding the man's death, claiming that he was killed inside his home while his children were present.

Those claims have not been independently verified.

Investigators from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) are on the scene as they probe the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

The incident comes amid a high number of killings involving members of the security forces.

As of September 16, some 217 people had been killed by security forces, including 19 so far this month, according to the figures provided.
