Man accused of fatally stabbing driver with pitchfork remanded

A St Catherine man accused of repeatedly stabbing a bus driver with a pitchfork has been remanded again as prosecutors work to complete the case file.

Thirty-six-year-old farmer Peter Fable appeared before Parish Court Judge Genetta Smikle today, September 22, where it was revealed that several key documents were still outstanding.

Fable is charged with the murder of 33-year-old Mario Sewell of Bois Content, Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The court heard that the post-mortem report, scene-of-crime statement and a statement from a Justice of the Peace who is overseas are still to be submitted.

Fable was ordered remanded until October 27, when the matter will return for case management.

The allegations are that about 10 p.m. on July 1, Sewell was walking when Fable allegedly approached him and said he had “something” for him.

Fable allegedly then attacked Sewell with a pitchfork, stabbing him repeatedly in the chest and face.

Sewell was assisted to May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Fable allegedly fled the scene but was captured during a police operation in the community the following day.

He was subsequently arrested and charged following a question-and-answer session.
