16-y-o fatally electrocuted at his home in Clarendon

A 16-year-old Garvey Maceo High School student died in what is belived to be a freak accident at his home in Gimme-Me-Bit, Clarendon, on Sunday.

Dead is Rishane Roberts, who was reportedly picking coconuts from the roof of a shop at his home about 9 a.m. when tragedy struck.

According to reports, Roberts was using an iron pipe to pick the coconuts when the pipe became entangled in an overhead electrical wire.

The contact reportedly sent an electrical current through the pipe, electrocuting the teenager.

His mother, who heard a commotion outside, rushed to investigate and found her son on the roof. She pulled him down and he was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Roberts reportedly had no known medical illness.

Police are investigating the incident as a case of death by misadventure.
