14-y-o girl beaten unconscious on bus for allegedly being too loud

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly beaten unconscious in the Spanish Town bus park after a dispute over her being “loud” on a bus, leaving two 16-year-old siblings facing serious assault charges.

The teenagers have been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and unlawful wounding following the alleged September 21 incident.

Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that about 4 p.m., the complainant was on a Toyota Coaster motor truck at the Spanish Town bus park along Burke Road when a dispute reportedly developed between her and one of the accused.

Police allege that the teenager told the girl she was being “loud” on the bus.

The disagreement allegedly escalated, with both accused, who are siblings, reportedly raining blows on the girl’s body.

During the alleged assault, the girl suffered a fractured nose before falling to the ground and becoming unconscious.

She was subsequently assisted to Spanish Town General Hospital, where she was treated for injuries received.

The two teenagers were later taken into custody after being accompanied by a parent.

Their names have been withheld because of their ages.

A court date is being finalised.
