Taxi operator nabbed with gun in Stony Hill raid

A 32-year-old taxi operator wanted for questioning in a wounding with intent case was nabbed with an illegal gun during a police raid in Stony Hill, St Andrew, yesterday.

He is Kevon Beckford, otherwise called “Fago”, of Pear Hill district, Stony Hill.

According to the St Andrew North police, a team carried out a targeted operation early yesterday in search of Beckford, who is also a person of interest in the wounding case.

Police said Beckford was found at his premises, which was searched.

A grey .38 revolver with its serial number erased was reportedly seized.

Beckford was arrested and subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police said Beckford is believed to be involved in various criminal activities in Stony Hill and surrounding communities.

The seizure brings to 23 the number of firearms recovered in the St Andrew North division since the start of the year.

Meanwhile, police are appealing to residents to share information about criminal activity, wanted persons and illegal weapons in the community.

The St Andrew North police are also seeking Kenroy Willis, otherwise called “Papa”, who is wanted for murder.
