‘Intra-Tech’ killed after allegedly challenging police in Spanish Town

A man allegedly pointed a firearm at police during an armed confrontation in Spanish Town last night and was fatally shot, with an illegal gun recovered from him.

He has been identified as Anthony Theo Williams, otherwise called ‘Intra-Tech’, of a Kingston 20 address.

Police sources said Williams was wanted in connection with murder and other crimes in the Corporate Area.

Reports are that about 9:30 p.m. on September 24, police received information that a man with a firearm was seen at a shopping complex along Old Harbour Road, St Catherine.

A police team responded and tactically approached the area.

Williams was reportedly seen walking out of a store. Police identified themselves, and he allegedly pointed a firearm in their direction.

The police reportedly took evasive action and fired at Williams, who fell with the weapon.

The firearm was recovered and identified as a Beretta pistol.

Williams was assisted to Spanish Town General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the incident.
