Mid-season final highlights KSAFA football action
Maverley/Hughenden FC and Brown's Town FC will lock horns for the Charley's J B Rum/Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Super League mid-season final at Constant Spring Complex, starting at 8 p.m.
In the curtain raiser, two hours earlier, Rockfort will challenge Santos in a Super League Zone B fixture.
The final should be an interesting and a tight contest as both teams are doing well in their respective zones.
Maverley/Hughenden cruised to six wins and a loss for 18 points to lead Zone A at the completion of the first round, while Brown's Town have garnered 16 points from five wins, two losses and a draw for top spot in Zone B.
The Lijaysu Simms-coached Maverley/Hughenden is highly touted to win the mid-season final, but it won't be an easy task.
"Our aim is to win the mid-season final and then take the title. It won't be easy, but that is what we are training for," Simms said.
Maverley/Hughenden will look to players such as Phillips Peddie, captain Andrew Peddlar, veteran Kasai Hinds and Nigel Reid for victory.
On the other hand, Brown's Town started the season with two losses, but have been unbeaten in their last six games, and will be hunting a win against Maverley/Hughenden in tonight's final.
Coach of Brown's Town, Karamue Huie said it would take teamwork to win the game.
"We have been working as a unit and will continue on that road," he added.
In the first game, Santos will seek to beat lowly Rockfort to move closer to the zone leader Brown's Town. Rockfort is having a poor season and will have to step up in order to move ahead.
