LONDON (CMC):

West Indies Women's captain Stafanie Taylor struck a cameo, but her efforts were in vain as Western Storm went down by seven wickets to Southern Vipers in the final of the Women's Super League here Sunday.

Sent in at Chelmsford, Storm rallied to 140 for five off their 20 overs, with New Zealand opener Rachel Priest top-scoring with 57 from 55 deliveries and partner Taylor getting 35 from 28 balls.

Taylor seemed to be moving into high gear when she drove seamer Arran Brindle to mid-off in the 11th over and captain Heather Knight (6) added a further 28 for the second wicket with Priest before falling to Brindle in the 15th over, caught at deep backward square.

In reply, a 78-run, first-wicket stand between Suzie Bates and captain Charlotte Edwards virtually ended the game as a contest.

Bates stroked 52 off 46 balls with seven fours, while Edwards weighed in with 24 from 18 deliveries with three fours and a six.

The right-handed Taylor had a successful tournament, scoring 289 runs at an average of 57 while claiming 11 wickets.
