Powell wins again

Jamaica's Asasfa Powell won the men's 100 metres at an IAAF World Challenge meet in Zagreb, Croatia, yesterday.

Powell, who is bidding to reach a century of sub-10 times over the distance, remained at 97 as he clocked 10.01 seconds to finish ahead of two Britons, Joel Fearon, 10.06, and James Dasaolu, 10.10.

Three other Jamaicans were in action at the meet. Kaliese Spence was second in the 400 metres hurdles in 55.77 seconds. The event was won in 55.61 by Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic.

In the men's long jump, Damar Forbes had a best of 7.49 metres for seventh behind winner Fabrice Lapierre of Australia, 8.06m.

Andrew Riley placed sixth in the 110 metres hurdles in 13.71 seconds. The winner was Frenchman Pascal Martinot-Lagarde in 13.35.
