Humble Lion go top
Humble Lion FC surged to the top in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) following a 3-0 victory against Maverley-Hughenden FC at the Effortville Community Centre playing field in May Pen, Clarendon yesterday.
Wolry Wolfe opened the score sheet when he netted in the eight minute, while Francois Swaby (45th) minute and Gregory Lewis (64th) completed the rout for the new leaders. Maverley-Hughenden's captain Andrew Peddlar received two yellow cards and was sent off after the second card.
The win pushed the Donovan Duckie coached outfit onto 20 points from ten games, the same as previous leaders UWI FC. However, Humble Lion enjoy a better goal difference.
UWI's six-match unbeaten streak was cut by a 1-0 defeat to Montego Bay United at Wes Pow Park in Montego Bay, St James. National senior team striker Allan Ottey netted the winning goal in the 75th minute.
Meanwhile, in the battle of the Gardens, it finished 0-0. Tivoli Gardens ended with nine players after red cards were issued to their captain Romaine Brakenridge in the 31st minute for violent conduct, while Mitchily Waul received two yellow card cautions in the 42nd and 52nd minute. The second card resulted in a red card to Waul.
Arnett had themselves to blame as they missed aa number of chances, including a penalty saved by Tivoli's custodian Edsel 'Robbie' Scott from a kick by Arnett's substitute Kemal Malcolm in the 81st minute.
