TORONTO, Canada (CMC):

Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Joevin Jones converted from the penalty spot to help Seattle Sounders to a 5-4 win over Toronto FC on penalty kicks and lift their first Major League Soccer (MLS) title over the weekend.

Jones was one of the successful kickers for the Seattle Sounders after they battled to a 1-1 scoreline against Toronto in regulation time in front more than 36,000 fans at BMO Field.

Jones converted his side's fourth kick, while defender Roman Torres made the clinching penalty in the sixth round of the shootout, after Toronto defender Justin Morrow bounced his penalty off the crossbar.

Goalkeeper Stefan Frei was named the game's MVP recording six saves in regular and extra time before making one stop in the shootout to help the Sounders to the title.

Sounders also clinched a place in the 2017/18 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
