Portmore United gear up for must-win game
Portmore United will need to overcome a 3-2 deficit against FC Motagua of Honduras in their quest for a place in the Scotiabank CONCACAF League semi-finals, when the teams meet in the second leg at the National Stadium on Thursday at 9 p.m.
Portmore United gave up a goal in second-half stoppage-time in the first leg a week ago, at the Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Now, fully aware that a 1-0 or 2-1 win would put the Red Stripe Premier League champions into the last four, manager of Portmore United Rohn Rainford said that the players are fully focused and ready to win the game.
"There is a sense of focus for the second leg. The coaching staff is putting everything together to get the desired result. We are aware that a 1-0 or 2-1 win would send us through. We are comfortable at home, so it should be another tense game," Rainford told STAR Sports yesterday.
"Based on how we lost the first leg after trailing 2-0 in Honduras, we must concentrate better. We came back 2-2 but gave up a goal in stoppage time," he reflected on the first leg.
The Portmore outfit will be counting on key players Damano Solomon, Javon East and Ricardo Morris.
