Former national footballer Robert Andrews has passed

Former national footballer Robert Andrews has died after reportedly battling illness for some time.

Andrews, who represented Jamaica at the national level, was also a key member of Reno FC during the Westmoreland club's glory days.

His football journey also included the outstanding 1977 St Elizabeth Technical High School DaCosta Cup team, which featured several notable players, including Clyde Wedderburn and Noel ‘Sweetie’ Smith, under coach Oliver Clue.

Andrews was also the brother of former national footballer Andred Andrews.

His death marks the loss of a player remembered for his contribution to Jamaican football at both the schoolboy and club levels.
