A free kick at the death from Mario Simms rescued a point for Waterhouse, which snatched a dramatic late 1-1 draw against Tru-Juice FC in Jamaica Premier League football action at the Drewsland Mini Stadium last night.

Tajay McIntosh opened the scoring for Tru-Juice in the 28th minute, a goal which seemed as it would have been the decider, before Simms scored in the 90th minute.

In the opening game of the doubleheader, Racing United edged Tivoli Gardens 4-3 in an exciting seven-goal thriller.

Racing United took the lead twice through a brace from Nickyle Ellis (14th, 18th), but Steve Clarke (16th) and Levaughn Williams (35th) pulled Tivoli level each time.

Racing entered the break leading 3-2 when Jevaughn Cole scored in first-half added time, and Chantomoi Taylor extended Racing’s lead in the 78th.

Joshua Dewar pulled one back for Tivoli in the 90th with a consolation effort.

In the feature match, Waterhouse started the better team and came close to opening the scoring when Rohan Brown pulled off an acrobatic bicycle kick that went just wide of the mark.

But it was Tru-Juice which broke the deadlock through McIntosh, who was played through on goal before firing to the right of goalkeeper Akeem Bernard.

Waterhouse went searching for the equaliser, but would not find purchase until the final minutes when a well-taken free-kick from Simms had goalkeeper Tafari Chambers beaten for pace.

With the day’s results, Waterhouse fell to third in the standings on 11 points, trailing Montego Bay United 13, and Racing 12.

Tivoli Gardens and Tru-Juice sit just behind in fourth and fifth, respectively, both on eight points.
