My sickness keeps me from finding a man

Dear Pastor,

I am 20 years old and have a lot of issues. My main problem is that I suffer from scoliosis, which affects me physically and emotionally. Boys think I am unattractive and girls make fun of me. Because of this condition, I was fooled into thinking that I was loved by the boy with whom I was in a relationship. I thought he loved me, but all he did was hurt me. I tried searching for love, but the same thing happened. I am disgusted with myself.

My family is poor and I have no way of treating this condition, which I found out I had when I was 13 years old. My aunt told me to seek help from a television personality, but I do not want to do so. I need to feel good about myself, but I do not know how. Please help me. I would love to hear from you as soon as possible. God bless you.

A.W.

Dear A.W.,

I wish you had said how much the surgery will cost. Do you know the cost? I want you to know that there are many beautiful women who suffer from this condition. As I answer your letter, I am thinking of two young ladies who underwent surgery for the same condition and are now married and doing marvellously well. Do not be perturbed by what folks may say about you. You are going to do well. You don't need to force yourself on any guy because you want to be accepted. If you do, men are likely to take advantage of you. You will have to work with your doctor and follow his or her advice. And try to raise the money to do your surgery. I would like to hear from you again. But this time, tell me what the cost will be, etc.
