Worried about my itching vagina

August 21, 2017

Dear Pastor,

Congrats on the good work that you are doing; you should continue. I am 20 this year, and I'm worried and need your help. I'm experiencing painful sex and itching in my vagina. I experience an unpleasant odour if I take long to shower. I went to the doctor five times and got treatment four times.

The first time I went the doctor he said I have chlamydia. I got treatment. When I went back and told the doctor I'm still having problems, they recommend the same pills to me twice. I have even got tablets to insert.

Pastor, I don't know what else to do now. I'm worried that I might not be able to get pregnant. I do not have any idea how long I have this disease. I want to be healthy. Four different treatments and no change. What's wrong?

I did some research and found out that my problem can be easily cured with antibiotics. Do you think the doctors did something wrong?

Dear V.M.,

I am sure the doctor did not do anything wrong. According to Dr Joe S. McIlhaney Jr, chlamydia is a very serious disease and should not be taken lightly. I don't know why the doctor would have told you that it can be easily cured. It can be cured, but it is not like a common cold. And, although I do not wish to scare you, I can tell you that if is not taken in hand, so to speak, it can cause infertility.

I would suggest that you abstain from sex, and that you work with the doctor and follow his/her advice and not expect instant cure. The cure will come, but it will take time.

I wish you well and I will be praying for you.
