Top acts for Grace Jerk Festival
Several top reggae and dancehall acts are lined up for this weekend's Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival at Ray Wilkins Park in New York where there will also be a special appearance by Miss Jamaica World Dr Sanneta Myrie, who will be featured in a Celebrity Cook Off contest.
The festival set for Sunday, is in its sixth year and according to the organisers, it promises to be perhaps the best yet.
"The entertainment line-up this year is one of the best we have presented over the years. It is diversified with international acts such as Third World and Gyptian; a rising dancehall star in Dexta Daps, a young female reggae vocalist in Ikaya, Soca sensation Rupee and British-born Jamaican singer Mark Anthony Abel," said Eddy Edwards, president Jamaican Jerk Festival USA, Inc. "The audience can expect all to deliver impressive performances on the main stage."
The festival, Edwards added, continues to showcase the fantastic wide array of Caribbean foods that continues to pull in the crowds each year.
"As a food festival, the culinary side of the event is what attracts a lot of our patrons as they come out to feast on a wide variety of dishes offered by our vendors," he said. "While Jamaica is known for its music, coffee and rum, we feel that jerk is also one of the island's gifts to the world. We choose to showcase jerk in a variety of ways and our chefs in the Jerk Cook-off pavilion will demonstrate various ways of preparing this Jamaican culinary delight."
