Racquel Jones set to thrill at I-Revolt
Emerging conscious reggae entertainer and recording artiste Racquel Jones is set to stimulate the audience when she performs at the concert I-Revolt: Journey, The Revolution Continues, set for the Nanook Creative Lounge on Burlington Avenue in Kingston on October 15.
Along with Jones, who is also a model and a former Miss Jamaica runner-up, the show will feature the talents of Agent Sasco, DBurnz, Koro Fyah, and Earth and the Fullness.
Jones, a rising talent from Portland, spends much of her time recording for local producers like Rory, and working with international companies like Thievery Corporation, with whom she has recorded a number of tracks that will appear on their upcoming album.
However, as she continues to put together a catalogue of songs that highlight social injustices both here and abroad, shows like I-Revolt provide her the opportunity to give Jamaica a taste of her powerful lyrics.
"I-Revolt is exactly the kind of platform I envisioned for myself when I started doing music; a platform that facilitates, advocates and promotes consciousness, revolution, and disturbing the peace to effect positive change," she told THE WEEKEND STAR.
"It's dope being staged with like-minded artistes."
She is especially pleased with the line-up and the fact that she will get to share a stage with Agent Sasco, a veteran in the industry and a stalwart of the conscious reggae vibe.
"I'm a fan of everyone on the show, and I'm looking forward to belting out to Stronger by Agent Sasco like a crazy fan," she declared.
Meantime, she continues to record and is hoping to go out on tour with Thievery Corporation, as well as to put the finishing touches on a number of songs she has in the pipeline and a music video that is in the final stages of production.
