Popcaan set to ignite BRT Weekend
Dancehall top-shot Popcaan is set to explode in the Dominican Republic later tonight when he performs at BRT Weekend in Punta Cana.
"With Popcaan just added to BRT Weekend, we think it is going to be tremendous and totally different," said Hans-Peter Mullings, creator and organiser of BRT Weekend.
Mullings said that Popcaan is one of the hottest dancehall artistes at the moment, and he is going to bring excitement and a new look to the event.
"A lot of Americans have never seen him perform before. They love his music, and Popcaan, being one of the best dancehall artistes in the world right now, the expectations are super high," Mullings said.
The Punta Cana stop is the start of a series of BRT Weekend tour. The tour will move to California for Memorial Day Weekend on May 26, and then travel to the Tri-state area in New York on July 7.
Denise Dixon, publicist the Hawiian-themed event, said excitement in the Spanish-speaking country has reached fever pitch levels.
"The excitement is undeniable," she said, while adding that locals are excited to see more than 1,000 persons on the island for one event.
"The Government has thanked us over and over again. We are just bringing a different type of energy to Caribbean entertainment," Dixon said.
She said patrons can expect nothing short of super entertainment.
Dixon added that persons who have already turned up in the Dominican Republic for BRT Weekend have been soaking up the atmosphere as some have been sightseeing, while others have been enjoying the beaches or riding motorcycles across town.
