Local entrepreneur and popular radio show host Alisia Jarrett, through her natural health and wellness company, Living Well Natural Care, along with Knott Francis Eventures, will host the first Curvy Caribbean Conference in Jamaica featuring international plus-sized models and personalities.

The conference, set for April 8 and 9 at The Worthington at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston, is a two-day event that will cater to plus-sized, curvy women. It will be the first of its kind in the Caribbean with the objective of empowering curvy women to love and embrace their curves.

"I want to use the Curvy Caribbean Conference to talk about us, the challenges and pressures of society and how we can confidently embrace who we are, where we are right here and now, and also to boost our egos with gorgeous hairstyles, make-up and fabulous clothes," said Jarrett.

Ambassadors for the inaugural conference are Tessenie Mowatt and Tricia Campbell, international plus-size models; Nikki Frenney-Wiggins, Atlanta-based blogger for NikkiFree Style; local media doyen and award-winning actress Dahlia Harris; and Gianna Fakhourie, creator of The Original Arm Candy.

The interactive, two-day event will engage them in informative discussions, provide networking opportunities, and showcase entities that promote items for plus-sized women.

Exciting and much-anticipated workshops include Yendi Phillipps' Reggae Dance Class, a hair and make-up session from Neahlis, and a 'Focus on Health' session by trainer Patrice White.

Also on board as presenters at the event are Danielle Desulme, Wayne Maxwell, Kay-Ann McKenzie, Caleen Deidrick, Natalie Murray, Alicia Lyttle, Courtney Washington, Simone Gordon, Donaldene Berwick, Ambassador Aloun Ndombet-Assamba, Rodney Campbell, Carrot Jarrett, and Trudy-Ann Herdsman.

Jarrett emphasises putting focus on one's health and not one's weight so that women worldwide will feel less pressured about losing weight and more concerned about maintaining a healthy lifestyle through body, mind and soul.

Jarrett continued, "All women want to feel and look fabulous, no matter what size they are. It's important for us to love who we are and where we are right now."
