Charly Black takes reggae to the beach
Dancehall artiste Charly Black is gearing to host a reggae-themed event at the Island Village beach tomorrow.
The event, Reggae on the Beach, will be held in Ocho Rios, St Ann, and is expected to feature performances from some of dancehall's and reggae's top acts such as Busy Signal, Jah Cure and Wayne Wonder.
Charly Black said Sunday's event is expected to fill a gap based on the scarcity of reggae events locally.
“This is an event where I am celebrating with some artistes who are proud of me and respect me," Charly Black told THE STAR.
"Reggae events hardly keep so I wanted to go this route. I do dancehall music but I have always loved reggae music. This is a genre that is loved by people all over the world and I don’t have to travel all over the world and see people’s reaction to have respect for reggae,” he said.
The event will commence at 4pm and conclude at midnight.
“This is not an event that people should miss because it is up close and personal. As for the event itself, people can expect it to be entertaining because I have been doing this from 2000. The fans of Charly Black know I have always hosted events,” he said.
