D'Angel happy to bring home US award
Known as the First Lady of Dancehall, an entertainer, a model, a mother, and an advocate, D'Angel continues on her path of empowerment after being honoured at the fifth staging of the Image Entertainment Distinction (IED) Awards held last Sunday in New York.
The singer took home the award for 'Female Artiste of the Year 2017 and was honoured for her continued work within entertainment and her contribution towards empowering women across the world.
"It was a joy to bring home this award simply because music is such a major part of my life, and it serves as a medium through which I teach, empower, and help others grow overall. I have always been an advocate for female power. I seek to empower males as well, but women are oftentimes taken advantage of, and as a strong woman, the least I can do is share that strength," D'Angel said.
The award came just weeks after D'Angel and Spice's song, No Worries, made its way on to the US Reggae iTunes Charts and was the number two trending video on YouTube.
"No Worries is a song that is very special to me. Like Stronger, the song has a lasting impact, and that was our intention when we recorded it. When you hear the song, it pushes you to be positive regardless of the situation you are in because God is always working," said D'Angel, who recently released Just Go.
