St Ann-based trap and dancehall artiste C9 has released his first official body of work, a seven-track EP titled 9 is Now.

The EP is executive produced by G9 Records LLC, owned and operated by recording artiste-turned-music executive Laro Don. Among the producers who contributed to 9 is Now are Faatal Music Production and Villin Beatz.

C9 has been steadily building momentum releasing songs including High Grade and Henny and Rich Out, establishing himself as an artiste with a growing presence within Jamaica’s evolving trap and dancehall landscape. His rise has also been strengthened through notable collaborations with established dancehall names including Valiant and Jahvillani.

9 is Now captures C9’s energy, ambition, lifestyle, and determination while introducing listeners to a more complete picture of his artistry.

The project’s lead single, Banga Surgery, is a high-energy trap-dancehall record carrying a message aimed at the younger generation – ‘get up, put in the work, and go after what you want’. The song embodies the mindset behind the entire project — action, ambition, and forward movement.

Dancehall act Merkz is featured on the track Wish, while other tracks include Trump Flies, and Germany.

“My music brings motivation to the table. People who listen to my music, they feel motivated in whatever they are doing,” said C9.

The artiste started recording music on his cell phone until he progressed into taking his art more seriously. He said he hopes to become as famous as some of his musical peers, including Vybz Kartel.
