Ras Goudie looking to the future
Building on the momentum of his latest single Smarta Dan U, reggae artiste Ras Goudie is moving forward with plans to release an eight-song EP next year.
It will be the focal point of a European tour in the summer of 2022.
"I have several songs completed so far for a number of producers," he said. The songs include World That We Living, Me and You Know and Far Far Away.
Most of the songs will be produced by his own label, Yong Rych Productions and Prince Villa Records. The main engineer for the EP will be emerging producer-beatmaker Prince Villa.
Ras Goudie, given name Dujon Alrick Sparling, grew up in Petersville district, Westmoreland. Faced with financial challenges growing up, he attended the Petersville All-Age School where he distinguished himself in cricket and earned the nickname 'Goudie Tiger' from his peers.
In 2000, he recorded his first track, titled Father God. He continued to work on his craft and in 2001, he linked up with producer Bunny General who recorded his second single, a track titled No More War.
This song received considerable airplay on local radio stations and he began to gain a following. Soon after, he accepted the Rastafarian faith and adopted the stage name, Ras Goudie. Armed with over two decades of experience in the reggae industry, Ras Goudie is now seeking to push his music career further.
"I am ready for the next step," he said.
