Shabako’s ‘faith’ finally paying off
Dancehall-reggae artiste Shabako is ecstatic that his faith in his music career has finally gained him success.
His latest single, titled Faith, has racked up several thousand views on YouTube since its November 20 release.
"People keep on telling me this is 'the song' and that they feel like it's speaking about them ... . They can relate to it, that's why it has taken off so well," he said. Shabako said that he got the inspiration to pen the song while working at his day job at a wholesale.
"I started thinking of the hard times I've been through, even up to [the] present time. But in the midst of all the thinking, I remembered the words of my late grandmother, 'faith moves mountains'," he said.
He then began to channel his emotions, penning the lyrics while listening to an instrumental as he toiled at his day job.
"I started to pour my feelings into the beat, and Faith was the end result to mark the beginning of something new. It is a joy, because this is what I've been waiting on for a long time. Even some of the major players of the industry have reached out to me and told me that this is a very powerful song," he said.
