Up-and-coming singer Krisiyah is sending out some love and encouragement in her new single, Big Up Yuhself.

"This song is a message to all the people out there to have confidence in themselves; it's an expression of self-love," the singer explained. Based in South Florida, the singer pays homage to her Jamaican heritage over a soothing one-drop reggae beat.

"I wanted to create something authentic to my Jamaican roots that sends out a feel-good message. I want my song to remind people to stop and show themselves love, while being able to 'wine up ya waist'," she highlighted.

Krisiyah said that she is hoping that listeners will not only receive the message, but to "believe it, have fun and feel good while playing it".

"There's nothing like the feeling of dancing or listening to a song that allows you to feel free in that moment; it's magical," she said.

Throughout her life, Krisiyah has been rooted in music and the performing arts. Members of her family, including her father, are recording artistes, so the young singer believes that she was destined for musical greatness. Currently 16 years old, she began performing in theatre and dance at age five, and began pursuing her music career at age 13.

"I create music based on emotions. Honestly, if I vibe with a sound I'm gonna write on it, put my energy in it and make it my own. I danced to hip-hop for most of my life and my roots are Jamaican, so they do influence my music heavily; and I like to play with sounds that represent me culturally," she elaborated

While completing her education, the singer continues to create and promote new music, while connecting to the creative community.

"I am so excited and blessed to be where I am today, and I cannot wait for what God has in store for my music and my future," she said.
