Zhayna getting ready to ‘Spend Time Outside’

Singer/songwriter Zhayna is preparing to spend more time outside when the entertainment industry reopens locally.

Zhayna, who debuted as a solo artiste in 2020, has released her fourth single Spend Time/Outside, which she says speaks to being in a world that is "free from lockdowns, curfews and restrictions that have characterised the prolonged health pandemic".

"It is both a reminder and a prediction of how we were and will be once we get the green light to 'free up!'," said Zhayna of the self-written song that was produced by KaleX.

Known for her seamless combination of multiple genres, Zhayna uses Spend time/Outside as the perfect convergence of pop and a pervasive reggae beat, with the nuances of a dancehall vibe.

"I want music lovers to feel free to do what they want, how they want, with whom they want, when they vibe to Spend Time/Outside," Zhayna said.

"It is a feel-good song that allows you to think ahead in a positive way so that when the time comes for the world to finally spend some time outside, it will be a manifestation of the things we were already singing and dancing to," she said.

Since her breakout, Zhayna has released Runaway, I love the Way and Coming for You. Her vocals have also been featured on Spice's Grammy-nominated album, 10.
