Yaksta, 10Tik for Acoustic Live
Entertainers Yaksta and 10Tik are set to ignite Acoustic Live, which will be held at the Bamboo Splash Lawn at 90 Barbican Road this Thursday.
"Live entertainment in the soul of the city is back and the whole industry is buzzing about this live acoustic showcase," said Natalee Jacas, one of the principals of Bamboo Splash.
Yaksta was hailed by Prime Minister Andrew Holness during his contribution to the Budget Debate on March 17 for his mega hit, Ambition.
"This is a positive message that can inspire a nation and guide us in our personal affairs in navigating these difficult times of crises, uncertainties, inflation and good shortages," the prime minister said.
Acoustic Live will be Yaksta's first major show in Kingston. He will be backed by his band, Skalawagz, while 10Tik will be backed by the Tower band.
Last year, both 10Tik and Yaksta collaborated on a new track called Freedom. Both artistes are expected to perform the song at the event.
Dancehall artiste 10Tik, a firefighter-turned-entertainer, has an impressive resume. He dominated airwaves last year with the infectious Roll Deep -- a song that speaks to betrayal and treachery. It has been viewed more than 16 million times on YouTube. 10Tik followed up that with The Real Way, which has surpassed 10 million views, and We Nuh Like War. He will be releasing his Soul of the City EP this summer.
Organisers said that Thursday's staging of Acoustic Live will be first of many live events at the venue as there will be live showcases, once a month, featuring artistes such as Dre Island and Marcia Griffths.
