Nadine Sutherland thrills fans on Jamrock cruise

Reggae songbird Nadine Sutherland showed off her versatility and impressive catalogue with a marquis performance during the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise last week.

She started off her set with a rendition of I'll Do Anything For You and surprised the crowd with a series of high-energy knee lifts as she deejayed parts of the song. The crowd cheered on her aerobic dexterity by roaring its approval. She followed up that with songs like Wicked N Wild, Babyface and I'm In Love where she showcased her sparkling vocals and impressive range.

The 2023 edition of the cruise sailed from December 4 to 9. The ship visited ports in Falmouth and Ocho Rios on Jamaica's north coast, after embarking on its voyage from Miami, Florida. This year's cruise featured several high-powered acts such as Anthony B, Capleton, Errol Dunkley, Leroy Sibbles, Kabaka Pyramid, Damian, Ky-Mani and Stephen Marley, Naomi Cowan, Ding Dong, Wayne Wonder and Sean Paul.

Sutherland shined brightly in this galaxy of stars with a well-rehearsed set. She showed off her powerhouse vocals on singles such as A Young One Like Me and Starvation. Then she delivered the boom with a cleverly constructed Bam Bam medley with songs such as Murda She Wrote, and Sister Nancy's internationally known version of Bam Bam.

Sutherland then pulled off a surprise with a cover of General Degree's dancehall anthem, Traffic Blocking, that had the cruisers in a frenzy. As her backup singers deejayed, Sutherland went down on her hands and rotated her hips provocatively to the pounding dancehall beat while the crowd cheered her on.

Sutherland closed her set strongly with Wicked Fe Please Me and her biggest hit, Action.
