Reggae firebrand Capleton is gearing up to bring his trademark energy to Appleton Estate Live Wire on Saturday, October 31, at The Wharf in Clarendon, where he will headline a multi-generational showcase alongside rising reggae talents Deep Jahi and Jamarii.

Renowned for his extensive catalogue of hits, commanding stage presence and uplifting messages, Capleton is expected to spearhead a night filled with reggae and dancehall energy. The veteran entertainer said he is eager to make his debut appearance at the event and is looking forward to the experience.

“It’s always an enthusiastic feeling to perform at an event for the first time,” he said. “Expectation high, anticipation high, it’s a pleasure being the headliner and leading the charge for this year’s staging of Live Wire.”

Known for blending conscious lyrics with explosive stage performances, Capleton said patrons can expect a set packed with inspiration, empowerment and the high-octane delivery that has become his trademark over the years. For him, every performance is an opportunity to connect with audiences while ensuring they receive value for their support.

The reggae icon credited his longevity in the music industry to an unwavering passion for the craft, resilience and consistency. He said maintaining respect for fans and staying true to his musical mission have also played significant roles in helping him remain relevant across generations.

“The passion that I have for the music is what fuels the consistency, the longevity, the substance, the resilience,” he said, adding that artistes must remain true to the music, take pride in their craft, and ensure their audiences are happy.

Capleton also offered words of encouragement to younger artistes aiming to build sustainable careers in the industry, highlighting discipline, humility and self-belief as key ingredients for success.

“Self-guard your character, don’t forget discipline, humility, tolerance and don’t forget to pay homage to the people before you who paved the way, people who gave you the privilege. Believe in yourself, and always remember that self-determination is the key,” he said.

Among those benefiting from that platform is Jamarii, who described the opportunity to perform on the same bill as Capleton as a career-defining moment.

“The feeling is honestly unexplainable. It’s a mixture of being proud, happy and, of course, a little anxious,” he said. “It’s a big moment for me, and I’m just grateful to be part of something like this.”

Jamarii said he intends to deliver an interactive performance that allows fans to connect with both his music and personality. He also believes events such as Live Wire provide valuable opportunities for established and emerging artistes to learn from one another.

“It’s really about learning from each other and keeping the culture moving forward,” he said.

Fellow performer Deep Jahi also welcomed the opportunity, revealing that Capleton has been a major influence on his musical journey from the outset. Sharing a stage with one of reggae’s most respected figures, he said, is both an honour and a source of motivation.

“The fans can expect a stellar performance, to be honest,” he said.

Deep Jahi noted that Clarendon has long been one of his strongest support bases, making the performance even more special. He added that events such as Live Wire are crucial for emerging artistes, providing exposure to wider audiences while creating opportunities to showcase their talents. The singer also underscored his appreciation for live and acoustic music, which he believes allows the emotional depth of songs to shine.

Meanwhile, Appleton Estate’s communications manager Dominic Bell said the event creates a bridge between established stars and emerging talents, giving audiences a chance to experience Jamaican music across generations while providing valuable exposure for rising artistes.

By bringing an icon like Capleton together with emerging talents such as Deep Jahi and Jamarii, the event creates a platform for different generations of Jamaican music to connect, while giving rising artistes an opportunity to showcase their talent to wider audiences,” Bell said.

He added: “We are proud to support experiences that champion our music, celebrate our people and keep Jamaica’s cultural legacy moving forward.”
