For Jamaican American YouTuber and comedian Andrew Bachelor, the connection to his Jamaican routes has always been strong.

And he symbolises that bond with his yearly outreach programme through his charity, the RuJohn Foundation.

"Back in 2003, we came as a trip for school, we came with just like, little school supplies, maybe one computer, two computers, pens, papers; little stuff like that. Over the years we just came back and it got bigger and bigger. Now we have a huge sports camp. We have golf this year, rugby, soccer, basketball, football, everything," he said.

The 34-year-old, who goes by the moniker 'King Bach', operates as the CEO of the foundation, while his older sister, Dr Christina Bachelor, is the president.

"She's the operation behind the whole thing," he beamed. "She works so hard. We plan pretty much the entire year leading up to this day. But this is fun for me, coming back, teaching kids the fundamentals, acting workshops, dancing workshops, music, everything. It's just fun to give back."

This year, the foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary with international celebrities like Jaleel White, known primarily for his work on the hit sitcom Family Matters, Lance Gross and American football player Darius J. Butler lending their support. The week's activities are set to include workshops across the island and more than $1 million in donations.

Bachelor, who was born in Toronto, Canada, said that while his Jamaican parents' strong connection to their home country helps him stay grounded, the brunt of that connection has been formed through knowing he makes yearly visits to the island.

"It gets a bit challenging at times, but it's always good to know that during this time of the year, I already have my schedule booked off and I already know that I am coming back here," he said.
