Protest in Petersfield over bad roads once again

Frustrated residents and taxi operators in Petersfield, Westmoreland, have taken to the streets for a second time this year, protesting the worsening condition of roads in the area.

The latest protest was staged on Monday morning by residents and taxi operators from Petersfield, Hertford and surrounding communities, who say the battered roads are creating transportation problems and damaging vehicles.

The latest demonstration comes just over six months after residents staged a similar protest in April, when a Hertford taxi operator said they were promised that repairs would be done within three months.

The operator said the poor road conditions are also affecting students travelling to school.

The situation forced Petersfield High School to adjust its operations on Monday.

Principal Roan Green said the morning shift was dismissed at the end of lunch, while the afternoon shift was suspended because transportation problems in Hertford and Petersfield were affecting staff and students.
