Former national Under-20 player Martin Davis has signed a five-month loan deal with Maltese club St Andrews from Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) club Harbour View.

The 20-year-old Davis represented Harbour View in last season's RSPL following a two-year loan spell with Toronto FC Academy.

General Manager of Harbour View, Clyde Jureidini, said the club is delighted that Davis is going off to Europe to continue his development and to showcase his skills to the rest of world.

Professional contract

"We are happy for Martin to get the opportunity as we are happy for all our players to get an opportunity to show their skills and probably attract a professional contract overseas," said Jureidini.

"As all these contracts are, it will be more beneficial once he signs a professional deal, this is a loan deal that he gets exposure in Europe to perform there and so if he performs and benefit from a sign contract later on, then it will benefit him," he said.

Jureidini added: "This is one way that he is getting the opportunity now so to do and so we will wait and see how it works out for him."

Jureidini added that the deal was made possible through Craig Butler, who is owner of Phoenix Academy.

"He is involved with the player in helping to create this opportunity for the player in Malta," said Jureidini.

Martin, who is a former St George's College midfielder, also represented the national Under-17 team.
