Following the successful staging of the first-ever Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-10 competition four months ago, title sponsor Guardian Group is continuing its investment in youth.

Annette Atkinson, Guardian Life's senior manager of corporate affairs and communication, said her company's contribution is a worthwhile investment in youth during the launch at the Guardian Life Centre, Trafalgar Road, yesterday.

"We are indeed pleased with how KSAFA administered the competition and happy to return as title sponsors," Atkinson said. "We at Guardian Life believe that the investment of $1 million is indeed a worthwhile one, and if we continue to focus on our youth it will help with the development of the sport."

General secretary of KSAFA, Dwayne Dillon, thanked the Guardian Group for renewing their sponsorship of the Under-10 tournament.

"We look forward to a long-term partnership with Guardian Life as we continue to develop our youth. I would like to also thank associate sponsors Peak Bottling and Football Factory," Dillon shared.

"Harnessing the talent from an early stage will contribute to the long-term positive effect on the pool of players we seek to produce. KSAFA recognises the need to put major emphasis on youth football, which unfortunately does not get the support from Corporate Jamaica as it deserves," Dillon added.

The number of teams in the competition has increased from 16 in April to 26 for the tournament that is scheduled to be held on September 1 and 2 at the Football Factory in Shortwood.

The teams will be divided into six groups with the group winners and two best second-place teams advancing to the quarter-final stage.

The registered teams include champions Holy Family, Arnett Gardens, Ballaz Academy, Barbican, Benders Academy, Brown's Town, Central Kingston, Cooreville Gardens, Duhaney Park, Harbour View, Jam Prep, Liguanea United, Mannings Hill Road Kickers, Maxfield Park, Meadforest, Norbrook Strikers, Olympic Gardens, Pembroke Hall, Phoenix Academy, Rockfort, Santos, Seaview Gardens, Shortwood United, St Aloysius Primary, Washington Gardens, and Waterhouse.
