Reid determine to win Golden Boot this year
Having missed out on the Golden Boot award by one goal to Craig Foster last season, Arnett Gardens' striker Fabian Reid said he is very determined to win this year's award.
The 27-year-old Reid, who netted a hatrick on Sunday in his team's 3-0 win over Montego Bay United at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex, leads the goalscoring table with seven goals.
Portmore United's Rondee Smith is second with six goals.
"Last year is in the past and so this year I told myself that I am going to put in the work and see if I can get the leading goalscorer," said Reid.
"I want to beat the 17 goals that Foster scored last year and once I do this, then I know that I will be the leading scorer in the competition," he said.
"I am not really pleased with the seven goals so far because I think I have received a lot of chances that I have missed but as a forward, you are going to score chances and you are going to miss chances."
Reid, who has been part of the senior Reggae Boyz programme for the past year, pointed out that his aim is to ply his trade overseas in the near future.
"Things are in the pipeline, but I have to just continue working hard because I want to go overseas and play. I don't just want to stay in Jamaica and play and score a lot of goals. I want to go to the MLS (Major League Soccer) or USL (United Soccer League) or even somewhere in Europe," Reid said.
He scored 16 goals last season.
